Zayed University is a national university of the United Arab Emirates with campuses in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It was established in 1998 and is open to female citizens of the United Arab Emirates.
Zayed University is committed to an Academic Program Model that provides a cooperative framework for the different degree programs. The most distinguishing characteristic of the model is a commitment to learning-based education. To this end, six learning outcomes shape the over-all undergraduate program: leadership, teamwork, critical thinking and reasoning, information technology, information literacy and communication, and globalism.
Students who graduate from Zayed University are fluent in English and Arabic, proficient in the use of technology, well prepared for professional employment and advanced academic study, and ready to accept leadership responsibility in their communities and their country.
Zayed University currently offers degree programs in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Sciences, Communication and Media Sciences, Education, Family Sciences and Information Systems. A concentration in Fine Arts is available within the College of Arts and Sciences.
The College of Arts and Sciences offers studio-based courses in composition, color theory, drawing, painting, three-dimensional design, photography and graphic arts, and design with the computer. Students also take calligraphy and art history and criticism, including the history of Islamic Art and Architecture.
Additional courses in Arabic and Islamic Culture, Arabic literature and drama, and Arabic intellectual history are availabe through the College of Arts and Sciences' program in Arabic and Islamic Studies. |
